Portsmouth Naval Gliding Club

PNGC is the largest of the three naval gliding clubs, the others being the Seahawk Gliding Club at RNAS Culdrose and the Heron Gliding Club at RNAS Yeovilton. They are all part of the Royal Naval Gliding and Soaring Association which exists to promote the sport and Adventurous Training activity of Gliding within the Royal Navy. Naval gliding goes back to the 1930's. a short history can be found here.

The RNGSA was formed in 1947 following a meeting at HMS Daedalus. Portsmouth Naval Gliding Club was formed in 1949 and operated from HMS Siskin at Gosport until that was run down in 1956 when it re-located to Daedalus.

Despite the best efforts of Hampshire Police the PNGC is still in residence at Daedalus.
